Controversial statement? Well it’s one I made in the heat of the traumatic Cup exit to Arsenal. Although I can’t really quantify or prove such an outlandish claim I’m going to stick by it and see what happens. At the moment Diamanti is my favourite Hammer; maybe I’m just clutching at straws in a pathetic attempt to fill the huge Dean Ashton shaped hole in my life but at the moment the mad lad from Italy is sparkling.
Every football fan has experienced it. When one player is so electric every time he gets the ball you expect something to happen. Everytime they touch the ball there’s a roar of excitement. Well at the moment that man is Alessandro Diamati. He has scored 4 in his last 5 outings (okay, 3 of them were penalties) and has supposedly attracted the attention of AC Milan coach Leonardo.
Way back in October I wrote a tentative post on Alessandro Diamanti. Thankfully he seems to have settled in and looks to be one of our best chances to avoid relegation.
Zola told Italian sports daily, Gazzetta dello Sport: “He’s a cross between myself and Paolo Di Canio.” A bit special then? Diamanti has certainly done his utmost to work his way into the fans’ hearts. He plays with a roar on his face and at a time when the rest of the team sometimes lack a bit of spine he seems determined to make the difference.
In response to reports linking him to Milan, Diamanti said: “Right now I am thinking only about the salvation of West Ham. I do not care about anything else.” HERO.
Whenever it falls to his left foot the entire ground takes a hesitant breath of expectation. Normally he doesn’t disappoint. At the very least he tries something so ambitious it makes you giggle. Free kicks around the box are greeted with almost as much celebration as a penalty.
Trawling through archives I came across this Diamanti screamer. Come on Alessandro, give us one of these would you!
By May I fully suspect him to have at least two contenders for goal of the season. Definitely hit with that sweet left peg of his!

What a goal that was!
Thing is, are any bigger Prem clubs in for him this January?
If not, why not? And if so, will it truly scupper your chances?
nah, he’s too much of an unproven prem player for any big clubs to come in for him… yet… i’m sure he’l grab a few headlines before the end of the season. not too unlike Di canio. big fish small(ish) pond syndrome
Give me Radi Majewski any day!
haha, yes, believe it or not someone else mentioned him. have no personal experience of him. is he really that good?
